Itinerary
Description: The journey begins with a long and scenic drive from Kathgodam to Khati village. This road trip takes you through the beautiful Kumaon region, passing by towns like Almora and Bageshwar. Khati is a quaint and remote village, often referred to as the last village on this trek route. Upon arrival, you will settle in and prepare for the trekking days ahead.
Logistics: Travel by road.
Description: The first day of the actual trek starts from Khati village. You will trek along a well-defined trail, with the Pindar River flowing beside you. The path passes through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, and you might have to cross a few streams or wooden bridges. The trek to Dwali is a gradual ascent and takes you deeper into the Pindar Valley, offering more spectacular views as you go.
Logistics: Trekking.
Description: This is a relatively shorter but more challenging trekking day. The trail from Dwali to Phurkia involves a steeper climb. As you ascend, the landscape begins to change, with the terrain becoming more rugged. This is where you might encounter "spiderwalls" and "frozen streams" depending on the season, adding to the adventure. You will get close-up views of the majestic peaks, and the air becomes crispier as you gain altitude.
Logistics: Trekking.
Description: This is the most crucial day of the trek. You will start early in the morning for the final push to Zero Point, which is the viewpoint for the Pindari Glacier. The trail from Phurkia is steep and often covered in snow or moraine. As you reach Zero Point, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Pindari Glacier and surrounding peaks like Nanda Kot and Nanda Khat. After spending some time at the viewpoint, you will descend back to Phurkia for an overnight stay.
Logistics: Trekking. This is a long day and requires good physical fitness.
Description: Today, you begin your descent back down the valley. You will retrace your steps from Phurkia to Dwali and then continue on to Khati village. The journey is a long one, but being a descent, it is generally less strenuous than the climb. You will have more time to appreciate the beauty of the landscapes you passed through on the way up.
Logistics: Trekking.
Description: This marks the end of the trekking part of your journey. You will travel by road from Khati village back to Kathgodam. The long drive allows you to reflect on the memorable experience of trekking to the Pindari Glacier. The journey concludes upon your arrival in Kathgodam.
Logistics: Travel by road.
