Chandra taal Lake
The surreal beauty of the Chandrataal Lake is striking, as if heaven meticulously hand-painted this gem of nature. The lake gets its name from its crescent shape, which is nestled under the azure blue skies. The lake’s turquoise water stands out against the cold, barren mountains of the Spiti valley. It is surrounded by an expansive grassy land, which was once a glacier.

The trek begins with a scenic drive from Manali to Jobra. From there, you'll start your hike, walking through a beautiful forest of pine, maple, and birch trees. The trail is relatively easy and follows the Rani Nallah stream, leading you to the picturesque campsite at Chhika.
Today, the trail opens up into wide, green meadows as you ascend gradually. You'll continue to follow the Rani Nallah, crossing small streams and walking through rocky patches. The campsite at Balu Ka Ghera is a beautiful expanse of sand surrounded by towering mountain peaks.
This is the most challenging and exciting day of the trek. You'll make a steep ascent to the Hampta Pass, the trek's highest point at 14,100 ft. From the pass, you'll witness the dramatic landscape change from the lush Kullu Valley to the barren Spiti Valley. The day ends with a steep descent to the cold and windy campsite at Shea Goru.
You'll start the day with a descent from Shea Goru towards Chatru. The trail is much easier today, following the Chandra River. Upon reaching Chatru, a vehicle will take you on a bumpy but scenic drive to the stunning crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake, a high-altitude gem. After enjoying the lake's beauty, you'll drive back to Chatru for the night.
The final day is a long drive from Chatru back to Manali. The journey takes you along the scenic roads of the Lahaul-Spiti valley and over the famous Rohtang Pass, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains before arriving back in Manali.
