Trip Itinerary
Drive from Dehradun through Mussoorie hills and Yamuna valley to reach Barkot. Overnight stay.
Drive along the Bhagirathi River valley. Evening visit to the sacred Gangotri Temple.
Start trek along the Bhagirathi River through pine forests.
- Distance: ~9 km | Altitude: 3,600 m
- Overnight camping at Chirbasa.
Trek to Bhojwasa through birch forests and open valleys with grand Himalayan views.
Trek to Gaumukh, the source of the River Ganga, then ascend to Tapovan (4,463 m), a beautiful meadow beneath Mount Shivling.
Morning exploration of Tapovan (views of Shivling, Meru, and Bhagirathi peaks), then trek back to Bhojwasa.
Retrace steps back from Bhojwasa to Gangotri. Evening rest.
Drive back to Dehradun, concluding the trek.
