Sattal (or Sat Tal) is an interconnected group of seven freshwater lakes located at an altitude of 1370 meters. It’s nestled in the Lower Himalayan Range near Bhimtal, surrounded by dense forests of oak and pine trees.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Delhi to Sattal

The trip begins with a scenic drive from Delhi to Sattal. The journey, which typically takes around 7 to 8 hours, transitions from the bustling city to the peaceful foothills of the Kumaon Himalayas. You will pass through dense forests of oak and pine, and upon arrival in Sattal at an altitude of 1,370 meters, you will check into your accommodation and settle in for the evening.

Day 02 :
Sattal Birding

This day is dedicated to birding in Sattal, which is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. The area is a cluster of seven interconnected lakes and surrounding forests, offering diverse habitats. Accompanied by a professional guide, you will explore various birding trails and hotspots. You can expect to spot a wide range of species, including the elusive Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush, Black-headed Jay, White-crested Laughingthrush, as well as a variety of barbets, woodpeckers, and finches. The day is spent quietly observing and photographing the vibrant avian life.

Day 03 :
Sattal to Pangoot

After a final morning birding session in Sattal, you will be transported to Pangoot, another renowned birding destination. The drive itself is a birding opportunity, as the route is through forests. Pangoot, located at a higher altitude, offers a different avian experience. The forests here are known for species like the Himalayan Monal, Cheer Pheasant, and various raptors. The evening can be spent exploring the area around your new accommodation in Pangoot.

Day 04 :
Pangoot to Delhi

On the final day, you will make the long journey back from Pangoot to Delhi, concluding the 4-day birding adventure.
