Itinerary
The journey begins with a road trip from Rishikesh. The destination for the day is Pipalkoti, which serves as a stop before reaching the base camp.
You will drive from Pipalkoti to the holy town of Badrinath. From Badrinath, you'll head to Mana, the last Indian village before the Indo-China border. From Mana, the trekking portion of the trip officially begins. You will trek to Lakshmi Van, a scenic meadow with great views of the Alkapuri Glacier and Balakun peak, where you will set up camp for the night. The trail is known to be lined with Bhojpatra trees.
Today's trek is more challenging, with a significant altitude gain. The trail takes you through the Satopanth Valley, where you will encounter alpine meadows and cross a terminal moraine of the Dhano Glacier. Along the way, you can see the magnificent peaks of Nilkanth and Chaukhamba. The campsite at Chakrateertha offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
This is the day you reach the main destination. You will trek from Chakrateertha to the triangular-shaped Satopanth Lake. The trail involves navigating tricky boulder sections. At the lake, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of peaks like Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, and Balakun. After spending time at the lake, you will retrace your steps back to the Chakrateertha campsite for the night.
You will begin your descent today, following the same path back from Chakrateertha. The destination for the night will be either Mana or Badrinath. This is a long walk, and after reaching the village, you will have a well-deserved rest in a hotel.
On the final day, you will take a long drive from Badrinath all the way back to Rishikesh, concluding the trek.
